2008 is the year of the wall-to-wall carpets at Kasthall with the launch of no less than eight new collections of wall-to-wall carpets and runners.
Although the eight collections all have very distinct design expressions, they have in common a palette bursting with colour and strong, lively patterns. Together the collections offer carpets that work just as well in public places as they do in private homes. This year Kasthall also launches two brand new woven collections – Klint and Ingrid. In addition, Kasthall has updated their successful glittery rug Monroe with six new colours, including Gold, Silver and Champagne – colours befitting of such a luxurious rug as Monroe. Last but not least, 2008 sees the premiere for two new special collections designed by Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg – the delicate Lace, and the “anniversary rug” Daisy, which was designed to celebrate Gunilla’s 20 year anniversary as chief designer at Kasthall.
Stig
A hand tufted two-coloured long pile rug in wool and linen with a repeated pattern. The rug is available in five
earthy colour combinations. The inspiration for the pattern comes from living trails in nature, paths that cross
and meet. It invites the eye to follow the pattern, which gives the rug a continually changing and lively
impression.
Material: Wool and linen.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Length: 136×204 cm, 170×238 cm, 204×204 cm, 204×306 cm, 306×306 cm. Other sizes per request.
Width: 136×204 cm, 170×238 cm, 204×204 cm, 204×306 cm, 306×306 cm. Other sizes per request.
Pile height: 40 mm
Daisy
As the name reveals, the inspiration for Daisy comes mainly frpm the world of flower, which, besides design,
is Gunilla’s main intrerest in life. Modern interpretations of floral patterns are one of Gunilla’s specialities and
can often be found in her designs. Another source of inspiration for this particular rug stems from Gunilla’s
porcelain cups from the 50’s and 60’s. Gunilla is fascinated by how pattern repeats were used to create the
porcelain of that area, and for Daisy, a cup with floral pattern sparked the design process which turned a cup
into a rug. Dasy’s colour scheme – like its pattern – is also very typical of Gunilla’s design expression, and
feels both fresh and earthy at the same time.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Pile height: 22 mm
Lace
Lace is a hand tufted rug in wool and linen with repeated floral pattern. The inspiration for the pattern
originally comes from the plastic table cloths that are used in simpler restaurants in Thailand, but through
Kasthall’s interpretation, this commonplace product has been transformed into an exclusive rug in natural
materials. The ethereal, romantic floral pattern is reminiscent of antique lace and bridal veils, and the elegant
colour combinations means that the rug works well in many different settings. Lace is available in many
colour combinations and can be ordered with cut out edges or straight rectangular edges.
Material: Wool and linen.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Pile height: 13 mm
Klint
A bouclé rug with a rugged, masculine look. Inspired by tales of cowboy life among the open plains, deserts
and craggy hills. The combination of hard-wearing wool yarn and strong twine creates a rough, durable and
“unshaved” finish that is reminiscent of coarse plaids and lassos. The rug is available in four earthy colours:
Ash, Umber, Coal and Terra. A “pioneer” that pushes the boundaries but at the same time is in harmony with
nature.
Material: Wool, linen and lurex yarn on a linen warp.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Length: Optional.
Width: 90, 140, 170, 200, 250 and 350 cm.
Special widths: 70–600 cm.
Ingrid
A shaft woven hair yarn rug with a traditional appeal. This rug is available in five natural shades, which
means it fits in well in many different settings. The pattern calls up images of knitted pullovers from northern
Scandinavia. Inspired by a rural and domesticated lifestyle rather than metropolitan and sophisticated. It
creates an active and yet restful impression that is simultaneously close to nature and urbane.
Material: 100% wool on a linen warp.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Length: Optional.
Width: 90, 140, 170, 200, 250 and 350 cm.
Special widths: 70–600 cm.
6 new colors!
Monroe
A sparkling bouclé rug with a wonderful feeling of luxury. The design is inspired by starry skies, frosty
grounds, and shimmering seas.
Material: Wool, polyester, linen and lurex.
Designer: Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg
Length: Optional.
Width: Optional.
Pile height: 11 mm
Storm
Storm is wall-to-wall carpet with a very expressive geometrical form that in its repetition creates a soft yet
strong pattern. The yarn of the carpet creates a grid that brings life to the circular movements of the pattern.
Storm is made-to-order only.
Material: Wool and antistatic nylon.
Designer: Johan Carpner
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 200 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
Tun
Tun is a wilton-woven two-coloured runner with an illustrated pattern. The pattern – with its strong
associations to the 1950’s – has an optical effect, but gives a warm impression thanks to the handdrawn,
irregular lines. Its inspiration comes from the fences and gates that separate farmers’ fields. The carpet is
available in four different colour combinations.
Material: Wool and antistatic nylon.
Designer: Johan Carpner
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx 90 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
Ro
Ro is a wilton-woven bouclé carpet where two different pile heights create its characteristic pattern. The
inspiration comes from waves that slowly move across a lake, and just like in nature, the pattern of the carpet
changes depending on the perspective, which gives it a constantly changing, yet peaceful surface. Ro is
available in five colours. The carpet can also be ordered as an area rug with stitched edges, in any size or
shape you require.
Material: 100 % wool.
Designer: Anna Schou
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 200 cm.
Pile height: 7 mm
Frode
Frode is a wilton-woven carpet where a mix of bouclé and cut pile meet in two different heights. A freshly
plowed field is the source of inspiration for this unusual irregular striped pattern, and the impression it creates
a lush yet natural surface. Frode is available in six earthy colour combinations inspired by different elements
in nature. The carpet can also be ordered as an area rug with stitched edges, in any size or shape you
require.
Material: 100 % wool.
Designer: Anna Schou
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: approx. 200 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
Franka
Franka is a wilton-woven runner, where the inspiration stems from the fascination with how Europe portrayed
the oriental theme in the 1700’s. The intricate patterns of the original portrayals were then simplified to softer,
minimal leaf-patterns. The end result is a runner with a classic yet fresh expression that works well in many
different environments. Franka is available in four different colour combinations.
Material: Wool and antistatic nylon.
Designer: Johan Carpner
Length: Roll length: approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 90 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
Flora
Flora is a tufted wall-to-wall carpet with a colourful pixelated pattern. Fields of wild flowers are the source of
inspiration for this bold carpet, and the impression it creates is a lively yet harmonic surface. The four seasons
have inspired the colour combinations, with each colour combination – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter –
containing six different colours. The carpet can also be ordered as an area rug with stitched edges, in any
size or shape you require.
Material: 100 % wool.
Designer: Anna Schou
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 400 cm.
Pile height: 10 mm
Brygga
Brygga is a wilton-woven runner where the inspiration stems from the borderland where perfection is
dishevelled, order turned into chaos. The pattern consists of irregular and overlapping fields that are on the
verge of falling apart, but that are still held together – just like an old wooden jetty. The runner is available in
three colour combinations.
Material: Wool and antistatic nylon.
Designer: Johan Carpner
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 90 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
Mylla
Mylla is an elegant multi-coloured wiltonwoven bouclé carpet. Its texture and colour combinations are inspired
by the soil in the earth, and brings your thoughts to nature, forests and wilderness. The carpet is available in
four colour combinations, inspired by the four seasons. Mylla can also be ordered as an area rug with
stitched edges, in any size or shape you require.
Material: 100 % wool.
Designer: Anna Schou
Length: Roll length approx. 30 m.
Width: Approx. 200 cm.
Pile height: 6 mm
