Alexander Lervik interprets the feeling of being on the move
in a new lobby installation at Nordic Light Hotel. During the winter, Nordic Light Hotel’s lobby transforms into a hub for arrivals and departures. The opening takes place in connection with Stockholm Design Week 2010. From February 8th through April, industry professionals and the general public can experience the flight and travel-inspired installation that alludes to what we carry with us in our baggage.
– I am very proud and see it as a challenge to be featured at Nordic Light Hotel during Stockholm Design Week. I have always been fascinated by hotel environments and wanted to create an exhibition that connects to the actual environment. The hotel is a temporary home during travel. At the same time, it is a place for new encounters between people with different stories and circumstances in their baggage, says Alexander Lervik.
The installation is built in collaboration with Johanson Design, Finnish SAAS Instruments and Belgian Dark.
Alexander Lervik distinguishes himself within both product design and interior design, with designs ranging from furniture, textiles, glass and industrial design to restaurants, nightclubs and stores. His work is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, Röhsska in Gothenburg and at the Design Museum Oslo. Alexander Lervik’s work is strongly conceptual with grounding and starting point in a clear idea. www.lervik.se
Nordic Light Hotel has over the years become a natural arena in Stockholm for many design events. The hotel’s basic concept is built on creating changeability and new inspiring experiences for a design-interested audience. During the year, the lobby environment changes several times with guest installations featuring everything from established designers to completely new creators who work together with the hotel’s own design team. www.nordiclighthotel.se
During Stockholm Design Week, a number of events are arranged at the hotel. The lobby functions as a natural meeting place for the public, designers, producers and press.
