The DR Chair 01 is a master of contradictions. Though very compact in size it offers a high level of comfort. The design feels utilitarian and indestructible, while being precise and elegant. An archetypical chair that is entirely fresh at the same time.
Daniel Rybakken
(b.1984 in Norway) has an Master of Fine Arts in Design. In 2008 he started Studio Daniel Rybakken in Gothenburg, Sweden, and has since then become one of Scandinavias most highly awarded and internationally acclaimed designers.
He has worked with leading furniture companies such as Luceplan (Italy), Artek (Finland), Vitra (Switzerland) and HAY (Danmark) and on product design with companies like Panasonic (Japan), Givenchy (LVMH, France) and as “Illumination Art Director” for Volvo and Polestar (Sweden).
In 2014 and 2016 Rybakken was awarded the Compasso d’Oro, Italy’s oldest and most prestigious design award, and became the first Scandinavian designer to receive the award.
