Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio’s Betty series expands with the addition of a new bar chair and counter chair.
Preserving the same distinctive features and material compositions that have come to define the collection, the new bar and counter chairs are two seamless extensions of the Betty product family, complementing their counterparts whilst uncovering a new opportunity to find a supportive seating experience at an elevated level.
Offering two seat heights, the chairs can be integrated into a variety of private and hospitality settings, from kitchen counters to lobbies and bars. Meanwhile, the robust construction, supportive backrest and thoughtfully positioned footrest enable users to sit comfortably for extended periods of time.
The newest models to join the now-expansive collection, the chairs continue to display Thau & Kallio’s pragmatic approach to functional design, as well as their enduring commitment to creating furniture that enriches and supports the routines of modern living.
The Betty bar and counter chairs are both available in three wood finishes: Clear Lacquered Oak, Smoked Oiled Oak and Black Lacquered Ash. There are also three seat options to choose from – one with a linen webbed seat, one with a solid wooden seat and one with an upholstered seat.
Named after the Betty Nansen theatre in Copenhagen, the Betty series was conceived to bring the beauty of purposeful design to the forefront of the collective imagination. With a deep affinity for wood and hand craftsmanship, Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio applied a firm focus to establishing a collection of designs that seamlessly integrate into the spaces they occupy. The collection has evolved throughout the years to encompass a bench, a bar and counter stool, a side chair, an armchair, and now, a bar chair and counter chair.

Holding Master’s degrees in design and trained as cabinetmakers, Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio marry their in-depth understanding of wood and traditional craftsmanship techniques with modern materials and manufacturing methods to create universally appealing designs.
