The new In Between Bar and Counter table by Sami Kallio is testament that the range belongs in all spaces
Over a decade since the initial product was launched, line extensions to the In Between product family see it continue to move from strength to strength. Inspired by one of the oldest forms of architectural ingenuity, the bridge, Sami Kallio’s bar and counter tables introduce new proportions specifically designed to meet practical needs in smaller spaces.
Following the core, minimalist principles of the In Between family, the additions put craftsmanship and a reverence for organic material at front and centre, drawing upon masterful woodworking skills developed by Kallio over a lifetime of experience. Available in four versions, the new bar and counter tables come in varying heights and widths, catering to a variety of needs.
Kallio comments, “The In Between Bar and Counter tables’ composition is inspired by classic bridge construction: two horizontal lines join with angled supports to equally distribute forces.” The concept of Kallio’s In Between range revolves around the function of positive and negative space. What started with a series of chairs, naturally progressed into a series of tables where the positive space is lean and elongated. “I wanted to see what happens to a surface volume and its relationship to space,” explains Kallio. “The lack of details removes any reference to passing trends and allows the designs to fit into any modern setting, transcending time,” he adds.
Sturdy in construction and made from a combination of solid oak and woodbased boards with oak veneer, the bar and counter tables come in three finishes: Black Lacquered Smoked Oak, Smoked Oiled Oak and Black Lacquered Oak. Made to correspond with the bar and counter stools, the tables are available in one of two widths: 50cm or 80cm, and either 95cm or 105cm tall. All four variants measure 190cm in length and the option of adding a metal footrest for additional protection and easy cleaning in high traffic areas is also possible.
The full range includes an impressive assembly of products: dining chairs; counter and bar chairs; an assortment of dining tables in a variety of shapes, sizes and finishes; conference tables; coffee tables; café tables, bar tables and now, a now, the new bar and counter tables join the offering. Minimal yet strong in profile, the In Between range is both timeless and unquestionably versatile.
