New 140 cm round version joins Northern’s expandable oak table series
Gathering around a dining table, whether with family or friends, lies at the heart of life’s most cherished moments. The Expand Dining Table series, designed by Finnish designer Sami Kallio, was created with these moments in mind.
Now, this timeless table design is available in a new, larger version, offering even more dining space while maintaining its signature elegance and functionality. Designed for both informal social gatherings and grand dinner parties, this table is always ready to bring people together, ensuring there’s always room for more.
The entire Expand Dining Table series features a curved apron and slightly angled legs that highlight the natural beauty of solid oak. This carefully refined design balances strength and lightness, making it a standout centre piece in any dining space. Available in four sizes, two rectangular and two round, each table includes a smooth, built-in extension system that allows it to expand by up to 100 cm, using two 50 cm extensions.
Each table is offered in a choice of exquisite finishes: light oiled oak or smoked oak, providing versatility to complement a variety of interior styles. The new version of this circular wooden table has a diameter of 140 cm and a maximum length of 240 cm including the optional extensions.
Sami Kallio
Born in Finland, but based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Sami Kallio is an award-winning furniture designer and interior architect. Sami’s work is a deeply rooted mix of traditional craftsmanship and modern manufacturing. His designs, while contemporary in style, still carry a strong reference to the past.
Everything Sami designs can be characterised by their clean lines, pure forms, and unblemished surfaces, and typically combine natural materials with the manmade. Sami has an instinctive skill when it comes to woodworking and this natural talent for compression moulding and woodturning sets him apart.
Sami Kallio has designed the Expand series for Northern, as well as the Pal series, featuring the Pal Bench and Pal Stool, plus the Valet wall console and wall drawer.
