Immaterial and Sustainable Solutions in China

The first seminar on 'Immaterial and Sustainable solutions in China' was held in Hunan University, Changsha, Hunan, China on 22nd February, 2001. It is a one-day seminar on the topics of design for sustainability and on the possibility for it to play a role in the development of advanced sustainable solutions in China.

The Seminar's motivation is to start the discussion on these issues, to collect some information and promote in the next months some activities (local seminars and/or workshops) to prepare a Conference that will be held in December 2001 (indented) on the same issues.

Seminars, workshops and Conference have to be intended as different steps in the construction of a stabile network of Chinese Design Schools on Design for Sustainability.

The Seminar programme was based on some introductory speeches and on the presentation, by the participants, of interesting cases of - advanced or traditional - Chinese sustainable solutions.

This meeting was treated as an initiative to prepare the December 2001 Conference and the possible preparatory activities (local seminars and/or workshops).
