It’s now time for the fifth edition of Young Swedish Design

The project is run by the Form/Design Center in Malmö.
The project manager is Maria Vieweg.

Young Swedish Design is a recurring juried exhibition open to young designers.
The project began in 1998 and aims to increase and broaden knowledge about young and innovative Swedish design and to reach new target groups.
Young Swedish Design also aims to showcase young designers and play a role in their development towards their future professional role.
The competition is open to young Swedish designers (Swedish citizens and/or students at Swedish design/architecture schools). Participation is permitted up to and including the year in which the entrant turns 30.
Older entrants may participate if they submit a certificate that they are students at the time in question.

Young Swedish Design is an annual exhibition of work selected by a jury. The project’s objective is to reward and promote young designers who have yet to be established.

Design is, for a lot of people, mainly about surface and the look of an object. Colour and shape turn into a matter of discussion concerning taste. This is inevitable since the magic of design lies within the aesthetic element. Nevertheless design is important in the building of society.
To add to the democratic project we need good design. Good design increases people’s quality of life and encourages people to experience and use our public
space. Design is a field of knowledge and Sweden has seve ral ambitious design colleges. Young people devote many years to learning design so that they can express their ideas, knowledge and talent in projects and products.
Young Swedish Form insures that many of these projects are shown to the general public. We lay great stress on fresh ideas and products. Young Swedish Form is a touring exhibition for young design before it gets “reviewed” by manufacturers.
This is where the vision and new ideas of the best of the young designers in Sweden is shown and awarded.
