X-Chair design by Hans Sandgren Jakobsen
Evolution is the gradual development that is expressed in the X Chair. The core challenge was to redefine the lightweight chair type and to create a chair with a seat shell made of cross-laminated slats. The development happened gradually, as new challenges arose. How should the layers be glued together? How many layers does it take? How should the slats meet the laminated side frames?
The X Chair is an haute couture piece intended to provide inspiration for future projects. The chair weighs just 2.6 kg
The X Chair was designed for The Cabinetmakers ‘Autumn Exhibition 2024 with the theme (R)evolution. The exhibition opened the 4th of October 2024.
