POP Art Design 22 February – 9 June 2013 @ Louisiana Museum

Pop Art is one of the most influential art movements of the post-war years. The dialogue between art and design in the years 1955-72 was massive and has been of crucial importance to the influence of Pop Art ever since. This story is the focus of the Louisiana’s major spring exhibition POP ART DESIGN. The exhibition elucidates the complex character of the phenomenon and illustrates how images and subjects mix, creating new connections between images and objects, subjecting standard genres to new pressures and establishing new ones.

The exhibition fills the South Wing of the museum and shows around 150 works, many of them classics in their field, and features all the most famous artists and designers.

POP ART DESIGN has been created in a close collaboration of Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and Moderna Museet, Stockholm, and will be shown in all three venues in that order.
