New look for Fried Egg Design Icon

The Fried Egg is known and loved for its iconic asymmetrical design. Now Warm Nordic are launching Hans Olsen’s unique, fried-egg-shaped armchair in a reverse version, allowing for greater flexibility,  as well as an exclusive Fried Egg sofa.

Fried Egg is rooted in 1950s Danish Modernism and appeals to design lovers who like an edgy touch in their homes in the shape of an extraordinary piece of designer furniture that features both personality and warmth.

Depending on where you want the drop, this designer chair is now available in a right-hand and a left-hand version. This also makes it possible to create a lounge corner with two armchairs mirroring each other, thereby creating a perfect spot for long, relaxed conversations in this playful 1950s design.

The sofa is featuring the same idiom and line as the unique armchair. But, whereas the main feature of the armchair is its asymmetry, the sofa brings together the playful lines in a friendly, well-balanced design. The two flat armrests open up to the world, inviting you to get cosy and recline in the sofa.

The Fried Egg collection is available in a number of different versions, each underscoring the unique character of the design. There is a self-coloured version that highlights the design’s beautiful idiom. A two-coloured model with a seat cushion in a contrasting colour features an extra touch of playfulness. A version with sustainable fabric lends extra sensuality to the design, featuring three different fabrics on the inside, outside and cushion: a combination of Hero, sustainable Re-wool and Merit by Maraham in light, contemporary colours. Finally, the soft lambskin version intensifies the sensation of a warm, loving embrace that the design provides.

Fried Egg collection is launched in collaboration with Hans Olsen’s descendants. Its new dimensions and playful lines will help perpetuate the distinctive design.

In homage to the 1950s’ love of colour and teak, Fried Egg is manufactured in this elegant wood with upholstery in a range of carefully selected colours from the Warm Nordic universe.

HANS OLSEN

Hans Olsen’s remarkable designs from the 1950s are vivid examples of the beautiful diversity of Danish Modernism. This Danish architect and industrial designer took on the classic virtues of the Academy of Fine Arts and the great master, Kaare Klint, but opted for a more playful and experimental approach to furniture design. Hans Olsen challenged contemporary production methods and much of his inspiration came from the opportunities offered by moulding wood. A refusal to compromise in terms of comfort, functionality and aesthetics is Hans Olsen’s trademark, and his iconic design attracts just as much attention today as it did back then. After consultation with Hans Olsen’s family, Warm Nordic will uphold the design legacy of this great architect and will regularly launch more House of Hans Olsen uncompromising designs.
