Kungl Akademien för de fria konsterna – Konstakademien – kommer under tiden 3 februari – 11 mars 2018
visa utställningen INSIDE architecture by Åke Axelssson, Jonas Bohlin, Mats Theselius.
Samtliga är invalda ledamöter i Konstakademien. Inrednings- och möbelarkitekterna Åke Axelsson, Jonas Bohlin och Mats Theselius har alla en lång erfarenhet och kunskap från sitt arbete med formgivning och har fått såväl nationell som internationell uppmärksamhet. Nestorn Åke Axelsson har av staten utnämnts till professor medan Jonas Bohlin och Mats Theselis har varit professorer i inrednings- och möbelarkitektur på dels Konstfack och dels HDK – Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverk. De tre tillhör olika generationer vilket kommer att presenteras i deras respektive utställningsrum; Sal Väst, Sal Mitt och Sal Öst i Konstakademiens hus på Fredsgatan 12 i Stockholm.
”Det gemensamma temat är samspelet mellan rum, inredning och möbler. Inredningsarkitektens arbete kräver en holistisk begåvning. Ljus, material, färger, mönster, texturer, hur vi rör oss i och och intar rummen påverkar oss som vistas där, liksom våra möten med möblerna. De finns rum som andas harmoni, som är demokratiska, som stimulerar våra sinnen och som blir minnen för livet. Det finns tyvärr också rum som är motsatsen. Professionell inredningsarkitektur är idag ett försummat område. Denna utställning vill visa vikten av den. En rad föredrag och diskussioner kommer fördjupa sig i olika aspekter kring detta ämne.”

INSIDE architecture by Åke Axelsson, Jonas Bohlin, Mats Theselius
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts – the Royal Academy – is preparing a new exhibition, which will be open to the public between 3 February and 11 March 2018, entitled INSIDE architecture by Åke Axelsson, Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius.
Åke Axelsson, Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius are interior architects and furniture designers, and all three are elected members of the Royal Academy. They all possess extensive experience and knowledge as a result of their design work, which has received national as well as international acclaim. The doyen, Åke Axelsson, has been named professor by the government, while Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius have been professors of interior architecture and furniture design at Konstfack (the University of Arts, Crafts and Design) and at HDK – the Academy of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg. They belong to three different generations, which will be highlighted in their respective exhibition spaces: the West Hall, the Centre Hall and the East Hall in the Royal Academy’s building on Fredsgatan 12 in Stockholm.
“The common theme is the interplay between space, interior design and furniture. The work of an interior architect requires a holistic talent. Light, materials, colours, patterns, textures, how we move in and take possession of the spaces all affect us as occupants of them, as do our encounters with the furniture there. There are spaces that exude harmony, that are democratic, that stimulate our senses and that become lifelong memories. Unfortunately there are also spaces which are the opposite of these things. Professional interior architecture is currently a neglected field. This exhibition wants to demonstrate the importance that it holds. A series of talks and discussions will explore different aspects of this subject in greater depth.”
