Fredericia Furniture acquires Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik

Fredericia Furniture, together with Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik, will represent one of the most comprehensive portfolios of iconic and modern furniture design rooted in the Danish design heritage.

Two furniture manufacturers became one
Two of Denmark’s most traditional furniture manufacturers became one when Fredericia Furniture acquired Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik on 1 October.

Hans J. Wegner’s Ox Chair, Børge Mogensen’s Spanish Chair, Erik Jørgensen’s classic sofas, and Nanna Ditzel’s Trinidad Chair are just some of the iconic Danish furniture designs that will be part of the new Fredericia Furniture.

“The two brands make a wonderful match. Fredericia Furniture and Erik Jørgensen have both grown out of a strong design heritage. We have the same values, we are both healthy and well-run businesses, and we are both family-owned. Most importantly, we share the same passion for design and craftsmanship and desire to create sustainable products with a long lifespan,” says Kaja Møller, CEO of Fredericia Furniture.

Production will remain in Svendborg, Denmark
Fredericia Furniture intends to maintain and strengthen Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik’s production facilities in Svendborg, Denmark.

“Access to well-educated craftspeople is essential for the continued production of high-quality furniture in Denmark. Erik Jørgensen trains some of Scandinavia’s best craftspeople – we have always admired the company for that. We can now future-proof these skills and strengthen them in line with our expected increase in level of activity,” says Thomas Graversen, owner of Fredericia Furniture.

The previous owners of Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik say about the acquisition:
“When Fredericia Furniture takes over, Erik Jørgensen will remain part of a local furniture industry. It is satisfying that during a period of growth in sales and earnings, we can hand over the company with its collection of iconic models and internal skills to a furniture company that we have always respected and with which we are very much aligned,” says Niels and Ole Jørgensen.

One company, two brands
The two design brands Fredericia Furniture and Erik Jørgensen will continue to be marketed as two separate brands.

“We wish to present a combined collection with two brands that complement each other – both in terms of design and market approach,” says Rasmus Graversen, Head of Design & Product Management at Fredericia Furniture, who continues:
“Even though Fredericia and Erik Jørgensen will remain as two brands, we will of course leverage the synergies that arise in production, sustainability, distribution and branding. The two brands will be based on a common culture within a unified company,” he concludes.
