Mattias Ljunggren Debuts Revolutionary Cobra Chair for Källemo in 1990
Mattias Ljunggren’s inaugural Cobra Chair for Källemo represents a breakthrough in Scandinavian seating design. Created during his final year at Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design, this stackable chair embodies the designer’s quest for “the cleanest shape” possible.
The distinctive angled steel frame in chrome supports seats crafted from natural birch or oak, available lacquered in standard colors or stained white and black. Revolutionary for its time, the Cobra Chair introduces stackable and linkable functionality without compromising aesthetic purity.
Available with fabric, leather, or felt upholstery options, the 1990 Cobra Chair establishes the foundation for what would become an award-winning furniture collection, earning the Excellent Swedish Design Award in 1991.
Chair COBRA, Kalmar Castle, Kalmar, Sweden
