Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Caravaggio™ by Cecilie Manz – Fritz Hansen

In just 15 years, Fritz Hansen’s Caravaggio™ lighting has gained the status of design icon. Designed by Cecilie Manz, the lamps upscale a timeless silhouette with a fresh, modern expression.

Adored around the world, the Caravaggio lamp is seen in homes as well as businesses. What started as a black high-gloss lacquer pendant in 2005 with an eye-catching red textile cord, has today turned in to a full collection consisting of wall, table, and floor lamps – besides the pendant in various sizes and colours.

Manz’ extraordinary sense for colours, hues, and the use of matt finishes  truly comes to life in this iconic design.

The simple, refined Caravaggio pendant consistsof a metal or opal glass shade with soft, feminine lines held by a suspension. The textile cable is particularly well integrated into the design and gives  the lamp its finishing touch.

The lamp casts a concentrated, downward light whilst also illuminating both the suspension and the cable through a hole at the top of the lamp with a shade designed to prevent glare.
