BORIS BERLIN – DIALOGUES ON FORM

Join Boris Berlin and a wonderful line of co-authors/contributors for the launch of Dialogues on Form, the latest book from Berlin’s studio.
“This book is a starting point, a provocation of sorts, on the relationship between art and design. My goal with the book is for anyone who is interested in thinking critically about design to pick up a copy and start asking relevant questions. Together, we must push the discipline in the right direction,” Berlin says.

The book with contributions by eight art and design historians, architects and designers: David Geckeler (DE), Jasper Morrison (UK), Deyan Sudjic (UK), Florian Hufnagl (DE), Marie-Louise Høstbo (DK), Christian Holmsted Olesen (DK), Mirjam Gelfer-Jorgensen (DK) and Vibeke Petersen Gether (DK) brings from valuable insights and forecasts on future material and behaviours to practical advice on how to steer a process, Dialogues on Form promises inspiration, learnings and new perspectives. The book was designed by Rasmus Koch (DK) and published by Arnoldsche Art Publishers.

The book comes alive
As part of a dialogue, each contributor to the book chose one object from Boris Berlin’s four-decade-strong body of work, collectively acting as critics and exhibition curators.
During 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, an exhibition and book launch will take place. Make sure to meet Berlin and an impressive line-up of co-writers, who will show their curated objects for Berlins body of work, along with their motivation and extracts of critical design dialogue.

About Boris Berlin
Danish design studio Boris Berlin Design is working to ensure that the balance between intellect and emotion is put first. Since the 1980s, Berlin has pioneered the consideration of sound materials, human tactility, public use, and timeless behaviours. “The best design is one you recognize, though you have never seen it before,” says Berlin, founder of Boris Berlin Design and founding partner of Komplot Design and Iskos-Berlin. His designs sit in the intersection of humanist product design and sustainable technology, with a portfolio that includes work for the likes of GUBI, HAY, MUUTO, Fritz Hansen, Made by Hand, Please Wait to Be Seated, +Halle, Källemo, Materia, Nola, Crassevig and Tendo Mokko. In recent years, Berlin has partnered with Designmuseum Danmark, the collaboration behind several permanent exhibitions such as: “Danish Chair— an International Affair”, “Little Table, Cover Thyself!”, “Danish Modern”, “Kaare Klint” and “Frankfurter Küche”.
