16 new colours for iconic Arne Jacobsen seating

A SENSE OF COLOUR

Introducing 16 new colours for iconic Arne Jacobsen seating, created by Fritz Hansen in collaboration with visionary editor, design curator and gallerist Carla Sozzani.

The Arne Jacobsen stacking chairs represents the core of the Fritz Hansen design DNA.

They are probably the most recognized and most successful plywood chairs in market.

Their design is emotional and unique, and they become even more elaborate when they are coloured. We call this discovery ‘A Sense of Colour.’

16 new colours and 7 base options mean endless possibilities for the Series 7™, Ant™ and Grand Prix™ Arne Jacobsen designs, the first three chairs where the new colours will be applied.

‘We began the colour selection on this project by having workshops with Carla Sozzani at her studio where we, from a vast number of colours, curated a unique palette. One of the primary goals were to create a collection united by a warm tone, a red thread so to speak. This was achieved by every colour having a splash of red,’ explains Fritz Hansen’s Head of Design, Christian Andresen.

‘From the dark green and blue of shifting waves and sky, to the pinks and ochres of small shells and a fading seashore in twilight, the palette came naturally as I explored the essence of daylight and its partner: night, to capture the essence of our shared colour harmonies,’ explains Sozzani.

´Any interactions with light and the confrontation of light with darkness causes a deep emotion, and the magnet that draws these two together is colour.’

Colours in this special palette complement one another and the iconic designs beautifully, for endless combinations with subtle warmth and harmony.

Deep Clay and Light Beige can be used as neutrals to connect colours, making calm and delicate colour families.
