By being together we define who we are. Interactions and relations form, not only the necessary social glue, but also the foundation for growing and progressing in life. Togetherness also relies on dependence and trust. We constantly form relations with people, ideas, environments and artefacts. The artefacts we surround our self with, both in private and public life, carries meaning and values. The interpretation and decoding of this meaning is a collective process, which could be identified and used by a designer to highlight certain group alliances or question norms and societal agreements.
Ten design students from HDK – Academy of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg University, are exhibiting artefacts that interpret the theme Together. Through collaboration between the students, the theme also defined the process. The result conveys different ways of interpreting togetherness.
