Newton – a sugar bowl and creamer

I got the idea for Newton when I was watching a television advertisement. In the advertisement a boy took a full cup of beverage on a roller–coaster and managed not to spill a drop by turning the cup as he went, even upside–down. I just thought, “would there be handier way to serve sugar and milk on a coffee table”, so I decided to try to do the same thing as the boy on the roller–coaster. The form of Newton is predicated on the function; I wanted it to look like a small ceramic machine.

Because of the solution based on gravity, Newton has two functions mixed together, and it works! I have also noticed that it has an ancillary function: it is good entertainment, and a source of discussion at the coffee table. It is an object that will be noticed. Newton is a good gift too, because in all likelihood, the recipient wouldn’t have it yet.”
