Swedish design company OFFECCT presents
new easy chair by world-renowned designer Christophe Pillet

Swedish design company OFFECCT demonstrates once again that it is a force to be reckoned with following the introduction of its Club easy chair designed by Christophe Pillet. In a recent design collaboration with Pillet, OFFECCT has taken the classic armchair to completely new heights and areas of use in a modern guise.

Implementing an extremely conscious choice of materials and innovation in the construction of the lounge chair, Pillet has designed a characteristic piece that is expressively minimalistic and light, despite clear references to the classic, heavy armchair.

Club consists of a simple, curved steel construction covered with tension fabric, giving the easy chair its ingenious shape, comfort and function. The designer was inspired by camping and tent constructions. Instead of a heavy armchair with a complicated stuffing and manufacturing process, he built up Club using small integrated cushions in the upholstery, almost like padding in a motorcycle jacket – all to achieve maximum comfort.

Christophe Pillet, educated at the Decorative Arts School in Nice and Domus Academy in Milano, speaks highly of his design collaboration with OFFECCT. He says that for the industry the company has an unusually strong focus on developing new ideas and new technology – rather than just focusing on another new design. Trends hold little interest for Pillet, who curiously looks around and creates designs to improve what already exists and add what is missing. His previous assignments include everything from product and furniture design to interior and set design for customers including Cappellini, Moroso, Driade and the renowned Hôtel Sezz in Paris.
