marc newson survey exhibition
A major survey of the design work of Marc Newson is now on at the Powerhouse Museum Sydney [http://www.phm.gov.au/exhibits/exib_new/newson/]. Newson is well know for his huge range of design work from the furniture that shot him to international recognition in the early 90s to the 021c concept car for Ford and his Learjet interior. Newson ius a graduate of the Sydney College of the Arts. His most recent commission in Sydney was lighting the Sydney Opera House with a series of images and colours projected onto the sails of the building

architecture awards announced
The RAIA has announced the winners of this year's Awards for Architecture. Most unusal residential entrant was Future Shack by Sean Godsell [see photo], a converted shipping container with roof, currently located near the docklands rail yards.
The awards cover domestic commercial and urban architecture and interiors.

new sydney designers on show
An outcome of the Sydney Design Week is an online exhibition of a number of young Sydney designers. work ranges from conventional furniture design to the flocked wall panels of Doris Ko which were shown at this year's Milan Furniture Fair. samples of the work can be seen at http://www.smh.com.au/workshopped/index.html or at PPF the Sydney design store involved in the exhibition.
