Material Matters @ 3 Days of Design

For three days in September, you can experience a design exhibition out of the ordinary. Material Matters, curated by the editorial team at Ark Journal, is an installation created in collaboration with 17 Danish design and furniture brands, and TMI – the Association of Danish Wood and Furniture Industries.

Material Matters gives visitors a tangible and tactile experience of the showcased furniture and objects: you can sit in the chairs, run your hand over the materials, and inspect the craftsmanship behind each item in an exhibition that explores the tension fields between design and art in interaction with materials and innovation.

The exhibition also invites visitors to delve further into surfaces, textures, properties, durability, sustainability and expression via an extensive material library in which all exhibiting brands convey their knowledge of materials and their importance for process and innovation.

Additionally, Material Matters has invited a number of young designers and artists in different fields to reconsider the way in which materials can influence future design concepts.

The exhibiting brands are a curated mix of well-known, established companies and smaller or new businesses, all of whom have joined forces to create a collective and extraordinary experience of materiality.
